Haringey Law Centre: our statement

The Law Centres Network (LCN) is aware of a recent incident reported in the media concerning our member, Haringey Law Centre. This incident is highly unusual and does not reflect the rigorous standards and values upheld by Law Centres across the UK.

Law Centres are committed to the highest levels of professional integrity, accountability, and service to their communities. As a national network, we monitor quality assurance and regulatory compliance, ensuring that our members deliver reliable, independent and expert legal assistance to those most in need.

LCN takes any departure from these standards seriously and is reviewing the circumstances of this case in line with our membership and governance procedures.

Since learning of this incident, LCN has been taking steps to help prevent similar ones in the future. This includes distributing guidance and webinars on the safe use of AI; updating our legal supervision and governance guidelines to members; and scheduling training on compliance and professional ethics.

For over six decades, Law Centres have played a vital role in promoting access to justice, challenging inequality, and supporting some of the most disadvantaged people in society.
